Civil Service and Local Government Reforms

The civil service remains the machinery of government, and reforms under His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf have focused on efficiency, discipline, and motivation. The Directorate has supported the digitalisation of administrative processes, improved record management, and introduced performance-based evaluation systems, while training and retraining of civil servants are ongoing to build capacity for better service delivery. In addition, the administration has cleared outstanding pension arrears and ensured the regular payment of retirees, reaffirming its commitment to workers’ welfare and financial transparency. Local government councils have also been restructured to enhance grassroots governance, transparency, and accountability, ensuring that public institutions are responsive, efficient, and aligned with modern governance practices that deliver real value to citizens.
